Cameroon cocoa exports hit 101,028 tonnes

Cocoa exports from Cameroon's Douala port reached 101,028 tonnes by January 9 since the start of the season in August, according to official statistics from the port on Thursday. The statistics from the world's No 5 producer showed 3,640 tonnes were exported during the week that ended January 8, down from 5,045 tonnes for the week before.
Meanwhile, the average price at the port for the week dipped to 1,410 CFA per ($2.83) kg from the 1,450 CFA francs per kg the previous week. Port authorities blamed the drop in exports for the two previous weeks on declining output from the Centre and South regions where the main harvest period started this season much earlier than usual.
