Equities on Thursday maintained upward slides on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) for the second consecutive day and finally stayed in green zone amid ascending transaction volume on account of fresh entries in selective scrips.
The LSE-25 index jumped to 3936.50 points against 3843.67 points of Wednesday, denoting an improvement of 92.83 points, while trading turnover was also increased to 7.563 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 4.704 million shares.
The market opened on a healthy sign but remained range-bound during the early trading hours. Later, the market kept on rising throughout the day that enabled it to cross the level of 3900 mark. MCB Bank, National Bank, United Bank, Bank Alfalah, Bank of Punjab, and NIB Bank helped market sentiments, while Engro Corporation, Pakistan Oil Fields, PPL, OGDC, ICI Pakistan, Nishat Mills, Lotte Pakistan, D. G. Khan Cement and Arif Habib Corporation also performed well.
However, selling pressure was also seen in Attock Refinery, Habib Bank, Soneri Bank, Samba Bank, Fauji Fertiliser, Engro Polymer and Chemical, as investors preferred offloading and offloaded their positions to pocket the available margin.
The advancing stocks were ahead of declining ones, as out of a total of 124 active issues, 41 companies posted gains, 21 went down, while 62 companies stayed glued to their previous levels. Among gainers, MCB Bank was improved by Rs 10.71, Pakistan Oil Fields was appreciated by Rs 5.46, ICI Pakistan gained Rs 5.00, while Engro Corporation and PSO were up by Rs 3.85 and Rs 3.05, respectively.
In the minus column, Media Times lost Rs 2.05, Attock Refinery was declined by Rs 1.20, while Ibrahim Fibres and Habib Bank were depreciated by 99-paisa and 75-paisa, respectively. Lotte Pakistan PTA was the market leader whose 2.674 million shares changed hands followed by Bank of Punjab with trading of 800,401 shares.
