Swiss franc down versus euro

Published Updated

The Swiss franc traded lower against the euro in thin trading on Wednesday, extending losses from the previous two sessions as traders focused on a debt sale by highly indebted eurozone member Portugal later in the day. The franc fell 0.4 percent against the euro compared to the New York close, trading at 1.2685 francs per euro at 0752 GMT.
The franc was also lower against the dollar, falling 0.1 percent to 0.9748 francs per dollar. The single currency has firmed this week following reports the region's finance ministers could consider raising the effective lending capacity of the currency bloc's rescue fund as it attempts to calm jittery markets.
