The son of late Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer on Wednesday vowed to uphold the cause of PPP in future and said that if he joined politics he would use Pakistan People's Party (PPP) platform. Talking to the BBC, Shehryar Taseer said his father's killer had snatched a friend from him as his father was a friend to him.
"My father has laid his life for the poor and down-trodden people of this society," he added. He said his father used to teach him forgiving others as it is teaching of Islam. His father always fought for the people and their rights. He maintained people misunderstood his father, as he never said what people think he had done. He was advocating Aasia Bibi by saying that she had not committed the offence. She was awarded capital punishment.
When asked as to how he feels when people shower flower petals on the accused, he said, he only knows that killing innocent person is blasphemy. He said that the real justice would be done in the life hereafter and those who do injustice will have to be answerable in the life hereafter.
Daughter of Shaheed Governor and country's most prominent politician told BBC that her father had been receiving life threats for the past three years. He had mentioned a week ago when I met him last in the morning that there had been a 'Fatwa' of 0.25 million dollar on his head," Saira Taseer said.
