Verification of BA/BSc degrees: 298 Parliamentarians fail to submit required documents

Higher Education Commission (HEC) has written a letter to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in which it is stated that 298 parliamentarians have failed to submit their Matriculation and Intermediate certificates for verification of BA/BSc degrees.
The official of ECP told Business Recorder that these MPs who did not submit their Matriculation and Intermediate certificates for the last four months instead of countless reminders. The parliamentarians included 21 from Senate, 112 from National Assembly, 102 from Punjab Assembly, 10 from Sindh Assembly, and 10 from Balochistan Assembly and 45 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Babar Awan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhary Nisar, Chaudhary Shujaat, Pervez Elahi and others are among the prominent MPs included in the list.
The official said that Election Commission of Pakistan has submitted B.A/B.Sc degrees of a total of 1170 Parliamentarians to HEC for verification. He said that a total of 428 degrees out of 1170 were not received back from HEC. During verification process, the HEC proved as many as 52 degrees fake, he said.
He said that HEC wrote to ECP and sought the Commission's help for submission of the Matriculation and intermediate certificates for verification of B.A/B.Sc degrees of the parliamentarians. He said that in this regard, the ECP has written letters to the Speakers of the assemblies and Senate Chairman to ask Parliamentarians to submit their documents for verification of bachelor degree. In this regard, he said that 130 out of 428 parliamentarians have submitted the complete documents for verification of B.A/B.Sc degrees while 298 did not submit their documents so far.
