The Federal Board of Revenue has set up e-facilitation center at the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Islamabad to assist taxpayers in preparing their electronic tax payments after successful implementation of e-tax payment project at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).
Sources told Business Recorder here on Monday that the deputation of the e-facilitators at the banks would help in maintaining better quality of taxpayer's data. Presently, FBR e-facilitation centers are working in all NBP branches. The collection automation project (CAP)-II has been launched at the SBP to facilitate the taxpayers in electronic tax payments from January 2001.
Some of the major advantages of the system are that the taxpayers could easily prepare their electronic tax payments with the help of e-facilitation centers. On the other hand, banks can electronically issue the computerised payment receipts to the taxpayers. The information is instantly uploaded in the FBR data and reflected in the main taxpayers' database o the Board.
According to sources, taxpayers have been given the facility to make their tax payments while sitting at their offices through FBR Web-Portal system. They could easily upload the tax payment data from their computers electronically to avoid manual hassles at the banks to safe time. Through the Web-Portal, taxpayers can electronically submit their tax payments.
The expert teams of the Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (Pral) at the e-facilitation center would help the taxpayers in preparing their payment slip identification (PSIP) required for making electronic tax payments. The banks generate computerised payment receipts (CPRs) after receiving tax payments electronically.
Another big advantage of the electronic tax payment is the increase in the receiving speed of the data from the taxpayers to the FBR Web-portal minimising time for obtaining the CPRs from the banks. Under the CAP-II project, the banks are online linked with the FBR for exchange of tax payment data on regular basis. After successful functioning of the CAP-II at the SBP Islamabad, the FBR would extend the project to the remaining SBP branches in due course of time.
