At least three unidentified armed robbers on Monday looted over a half million rupees from a bank in the limits of Rizvia police station. According to police sources, at around 12:45 pm, some three armed robbers entered in a bank situated at Nazimabad No 1 within the jurisdiction of Rizvia police station and held bank's employees hostages.
They said the robbers had looted over a half million rupees from a bank and safely managed to flee by taking all weapons of on-duty security guards. They said the police have detained both suspected security guards namely Altaf Hussain and Rizwan, for interrogation.
Talking to Business Recorder, DSP Sultan Khan said that some three armed men wearing jeans and shirt, entered in bank at around 12:45pm. After few minutes, one of them had started beating a security guard with no reason. Meanwhile, the rest of them pulled out their guns and held the whole staff hostages, he said and adding that armed men also snatched the riffle of Altaf Hussain and TT pistol from Rizwan and looted Rs 0.66 million from cash counter within minutes.
To a question, he expressed inability to get footages of the said incident, saying that the security cameras of a bank were out of order hence they are unable to identify robbers. Moreover, he said that Police had lodged FIR against unidentified robbers on the complaint of bank manager Hammad and started investigation in this connection.
