Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has directed the nation building departments to complete the development schemes of backward areas within stipulated time so that poverty and backwardness can be eradicated. He said that by providing required facilities Fort Monroe would be developed as second recreational resort of the province.
He expressed these views while addressing a high level meeting to review the development schemes of Dera Ghazi Khan City under the development programme for southern Punjab.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Commerce Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa, Chief Secretary Punjab Nasir Mehmood Khosa and other high ranking officers. Zulfiqar Khosa observed that a trend has been developed to visit Fort Monroe during summer season by the people of southern Punjab. Tourist activities may be promoted by providing civic amenities and clean drinking water, he added.
The meeting reviewed the pace of work on development schemes of DG Khan City including DG Khan Medical College, DHQ Hospital, Arts Council Auditorium, Model Children Home, Paramedical Institute and urban sewerage scheme. The Chief Secretary directed the officer concerned to complete these schemes by 30th June, 2011. In addition to that the meeting also considered the feasibility of the sites selected for Daanish School, journalists housing scheme and fruit market. Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that present fruit market be shifted to a suitable place with the consultation of fruit merchants.
