Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Geelani has appealed to the international humanitarian organisations including Amnesty International (AI) and International Red Cross to take cognisance of gross human rights violations by Indian troops in held Kashmir.
He condemned the booking of minors under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) and ill treatment meted out to illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists. Syed Ali Geelani also denounced the arrest of a girl in Tral, Kashmir Media Service reported.
He said that Kashmir had been turned into a police state by the authorities and the humanitarian organisations should use their influence to halt troops' atrocities in the occupied territory and help in release of the illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders.
The veteran Hurriyet leader said, "The worst examples of Indian state terrorism are the arrest of 15-year-old, Tauseef Hussain Bhat of Shopian under PSA and the flimsy murder charges against a 14 years old student, Muhammad Imran Ganai of Kathwar in Budgam."
He said the puppet administration was treating political prisoners shabbily and lodging them in jails away from homes even against the court orders."The prisoners are deliberately sent to jails outside the Valley so that their families could not meet them," he added.
