Influential landlords: 'Schools buildings being used as godowns'

Provincial Minister for Education Pir Mazhar ul Haq has said that 1,158 schools in province established by previous rulers can not be treated as schools, these are used as godowns of influential landlords.
This he said while addressing second anniversary of PPP worker Ismail Chopan near Dhoronaro here on Sunday. He said that Ismail Chopan was brave worker of party, his sacrifice will not go in vain. He urged reopening of case and investigating of case impartially.
He paid rich tribute to Ismail Chopan and said that he was killed brutally in 2009 after kidnapping by political rivals. He said that he was killed by remnants of Zia, whom keeping in coalition was their compulsion. He said that due to unawareness and lack of co-operation by parents we have lagged behind in education sector. Donors donate us as sympathy due to declining standard of education, but parents feel free after sending children to schools and do not monitor educational environment and activities.
He confessed that previous rulers in collusion with educational officials established about 1,158 schools to make then godowns. He cited EDO education Umerkot saying that in Umerkot there are two high schools where attendance is five to ten students. He urged politician not to play with future and money of nation for the sake of some votes, do commendable work for changing destiny of nation. Otherwise such practices are tarnishing the image of country across abroad. He deplored that under conspiracy government schools are defamed, infact government schools are imparting quality education. He stressed the need to enroll girls in schools, specially in remote districts like Umerkot.
He further said that flood of terrorism and religious extremism came from Afghanistan has flooded the soil of saints and Soofis Pakistan. Commenting on murder of Salmaan Taseer he said that it was political murder under curtail of religion, otherwise he did no blasphemy, but fake and so called religious leaders to settle their scores are infuriating nation, he deplored that flow of religious extremism will burn the country, in which West want to enter by showing craze of religious extremism, like they did in Iraq and Afghanistan.
