PML-N not to rescind its six-day ultimatum

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would not reconsider its ultimatum of six days because the 10-point agenda, given by Nawaz Sharif was in the larger interest of the country. This was stated by PML-N leader Mohammad Pervaiz while talking to reporters here on Saturday.
"The Prime Minister should respond positively for the implementation of PML-N's 10-point agenda to keep the democracy thriving", he said. Otherwise, he added, the PML-N would kick-start its plan evolved in the larger interest of the country. According to him, the PML-N had never compromised on national issues and would remain committed to politics, based on principles. He said that the 10-point agenda of PML-N chief is aimed at steering the country out of prevailing mess.
Pervez said that PML-Q and MQM were following the policy of self-interest. He added that MQM had always remained part of all regimes to enjoy the powers and influence. "MQM's separation from the Federal Cabinet was pre-planned in a bid to pressurise the PPP-led government," he added. He said the PML-Q leadership, which is feeling the pain of democracy today, remained part and parcel of dictatorship regime that played havoc with the country.
Referring to the decision pertaining to withdrawal of increase in petroleum products prices, he said this was one of the demands of Nawaz Sharif, on which Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani reacted positively and withdrew the increase in POL prices.
Pervaiz said that PML-N respects the democracy but it does not mean that it would support a corrupt and anti-people government. PML-N Overseas Central Secretary General Kaiser Mehmood expressed reservations over poor governance by the current coalition government.
"The PPP is doing nothing to improve the plight of the common man who are desperate for change and this sheer temptation for change could assume devastating form," he said. He added that poverty, corruption, unemployment and silent support of the government for drone attacks had triggered aggression in the masses.
On the other hand, a leader of PML-Q said his party would not let the present democratic system derail and would continue to strive for national solidarity, good governance, strong democratic values and elimination of poverty. "Pakistan Muslim League-Q had always upheld national interests above all other interests, and there was complete consensus in party ranks on this cherished principle," they added.
