The Pakistan's private sector has expressed its disappointment on the government decision to ban export of onion from Pakistan to India through land routs, while directing the business to be operated through seaports.
Such decisions hamper trade and cause waste of perishable goods, which is neither in the interest of the government nor traders and consumers, said the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PPCCI) former President and Vice President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik in a statement on Saturday.
He demanded of the customs authorities for immediate clearance of contracted consignments held at Wagha Border and said the government should take up such issues wisely, particularly which have multidimensional affects. The issuance of such notification is not a good practice and is not in the interest of bilateral trade, which despite having enormous potential is creeping at snail pace, he said.
