Pakistan People's Party Punjab President, Imtiaz Safdar Waraich said on Saturday that it is for PML-N to decide whether it would strengthen institutions or weaken them after January 10. Talking to the media after Qur'an Khuwani for late Salman Taseer at the residence of Samina Khalid Ghurki.
Federal Minister for Social Welfare and President PPP Lahore chapter here, he said the party decision about separation or continuation in Punjab government would be accepted by workers. He said the leadership of the party, including the president and the prime minister, are aware of the reservations of workers and the ministers of the province about the government.
He said there is no objection to the PPP to sit on opposition benches in the province, adding that it decided to sit in the opposition in Sindh in 2002 despite the majority in the assembly. To a question, Waraich said PPP wants to continue policy of reconciliation in the largest interest of the nation, not only in Punjab but also in the country.
He added that Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani would try to persuade Maulana Fazalur Rehman like the MQM. To the question about the next governor, he said the name would be finalised by the leadership today (Saturday). Farooq Yousuf Ghurki, Punjab IT Minister, Sami Ullah Khan, General Secretary PPP Punjab, and other leaders including Faiza Malik, Neelam Jabbar, Sajida Meer, Usman Malik, Dr Hasnat Shah and Anwar Anjum were also present on the occasion.
