A delegation of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) led by Jauhar Ali Qandhari visited EOBl Head Office and held a meeting with its Chairman Zafar Iqbal Gondal here on Saturday. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Employees Old-age Benefits Institutions (EOBI).
Welcoming the delegation, EOBI Chairman Zafar Iqbal Gondal said his institution provided old-age pension, survivors pension and invalidity pension to the registered workers but the benefits of WWF were also available to the employees registered with EOBI and holding registration card. He also said that a satisfied and motivated worker would be more productive and cost effective for his organisation.
Gondal emphasised the need to uplift the living standard of the workers who were truly backbone of the country's economy. He urged the representatives of employers' bodies to ask all their members to pay contribution to EOBI for all of their employees and get them registered so that their employees could get their benefits when due.
Gondal urged the employers to register all of their workers with EOBI and provide CNIC so that they and their family members got benefit from EOBI and WWF schemes. He informed the delegation that for the convenience of pensioners, EOBI has asked the pensioners for availing the facility of payment by direct credit in their bank accounts.
EOBI Chairman further informed that pension had been allowed to unmarried daughters of deceased pensioners till their marriage, lifetime pension to the disabled children of deceased pensioners. Applicability of Act has been exempted to the contingent workers of statuary organisations who were exempted from applicability of Act.
Jauhar Ali Qandhari thanked the EOBI Chairman and his team for thoughtful session, which would be shared by their members of the association. He assured that they would get their employees registered with EOBI and other such institution to give some relief to workers employed.
