CHITTAGONG: Younis Khan completed his 19th Test century and Asad Shafiq scored an unbeaten 86 to help Pakistan gain a huge lead on the third day of the opening Test against Bangladesh on Sunday.

Younis was unbeaten on 158 as Pakistan reached 525-4 in their first innings at lunch in reply to Bangladesh's 135 after adding 110 runs to their overnight total of 415-4.

The tourists are now 390 runs ahead with six wickets in hand.

Younis, 96 overnight, reached his hundred in the opening over when he flicked paceman Shahadat Hossain for a four. He has so far cracked two sixes and 15 fours in his 251-ball knock.

Shafiq has hit two sixes and eight fours in his fourth Test half-century after being dropped by Rubel Hossain at fine-leg off Shahadat when on 43.

Younis, caught off a Rubel no-ball by Elias Sunny at deep square-leg when on 138, continued to dominate the Bangladeshi attack and put on 214 for the unbroken fifth-wicket stand with Shafiq.

Bangladeshi left-arm spinner Elias Sunny has so far bagged two wickets, while off-spinner Mohammad Mahmudullah and Shahadat one each.

Mohammad Hafeez (143) on Saturday put Pakistan on course for a big total with a 164-run stand for the opening wicket with Taufeeq Umar (61).
