Foreign envoys pay homage to Taseer

Ambassadors from several countries and senior American officials paid tributes to assassinated Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer, as they recalled his qualities of courageous and progressive leadership in a condolence book placed at the Pakistani embassy.
Those who recorded their condolences included State Department officials from the office of special representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Washington-based senior diplomats from several Muslim, European and South Asian countries, and a number of prominent Pakistani-Americans. The visitors to the embassy praised Taseer as a voice of tolerance and termed his death a great loss for the country.
