Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif has called for an early resumption of the composite dialogue process between Pakistan and India, as its absence is adding to tension and hostility between them. He made this remark while talking to a group of Indian Parliamentarians and social figures, who called on him here on Friday.
He emphasised that as a strong advocate of cordial and co-operative relations between the two South Asian neighbours, he had taken a number of major initiatives to improve relations with India. Of course, the most promising had been his invitation to the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, which had resulted in the Lahore Declaration, which envisaged a comprehensive road-map for resolution of the differences between them.
He recalled that he had not only expressed his grief and anger at the dastardly attack in Mumbai in November 2008, but also called for severe punishment to the perpetrators of this terrorist act. It was however, essential for India to resume its formal dialogue process with Pakistan. It was only through regular and sustained contacts and co-operation, in all spheres, that two countries could resolve their differences and sure peace and stability in the region.-PR
