Protests break out in Karachi, other cities in response to Faizabad operation

The operation against protesters at Islamabad's Faizabad Interchange has triggered protests in Lahore, Sialkot, Peshawar and Karachi, where scores of protesters have come out on streets to show unity with Faizabad protesters.
Protests have started in Lahore's Shahdara and Sialkot's Sambrial area, while many protesters have gathered at Karachi's Numaish Chowrangi.

A huge contingent of police have also arrived on the site along with water cannons to control the situation.
Police have started using tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters on Star Gate at Sharah-e-Faisal, which has been blocked by the protesters. In response, the protesters have started pelting stones at the police.

Meanwhile, demonstrators have converged at Lahore to show unity with Faizabad protesters, according to local media reports. Protesters also punctured metro buses tyres in protest. Demonstrations also started at Shahdara Road, Imamia Colony and other parts of GT Road, while roads from Lahore to Gujranwala and Faisalabad have also been closed.
