The Karachi Port handled 111,206 tonnes of cargo including 87,568 tonnes of import cargo, 23,638 tonnes of export cargo, 5,847 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 87,568 tonnes comprised of 49,925 tonnes of containerised cargo; 197 tonnes of general cargo; 36,664 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,473 tonnes of DAP; 27,112 tonnes of coal; 5,079 canola seeds and 782 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,638 tonnes comprised of 17,604 tonnes of containerised cargo; 840 tonnes of general cargo and 5,194 tonnes of cement. Five ships namely Zhong Chi, Gulf Tiger, Thana Bhum, Mariner and Strong with petrol, vehicles, containers and vehicles sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz James River Bridge, Bunga Raya Empat, President Adams, Saeed, Mariner and Strong carrying containers, cement, vehicles and tug are currently at the berth. Two ships namely Alitis and Bunga Raya Empat carrying Canola seeds and containers expected to sail on Wednesday, while three ships namely James River Bridge, Miami Maiden and Transocean with containers, coal and sugar are expected to sail on Thursday. Four vessels viz Lodestar Genesis, MSC Jemima, CSL Ride and Ocean President carrying chemicals, containers and coal due to arrive on Wednesday, while five vessels viz Bow Century, Polaris Stardom, OEL Sheryas OEL Patriakos and Samin-1 with chemicals, tankers and containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
Three container ships sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while two more ships namely MV Panagio Tis-D and MV Timios Stavros are expected to sail on Wednesday. A total number of eleven vessels viz Nedlloyd Tasman, Fowairet, UASC Shuwaikh, MV MV Troy, MV Timios Stavros, MV MY Voung, MV Yon Phung Ho, MV Panagio Tis-D, Lanka Mahapola, Iron Monger-5 and Chem Orchid are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, sugar, canola seeds, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely Lagonda, Gulf Crown, DA Hua, MSC Aurelie and Aruni Rickmers carrying wheat, furnace oil, equipment and containers are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two container vessels viz MSC Aurelie and Aruni Rickmers and ageneral cargo ship namely are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
