Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 111,731 tonnes of cargo including 92,124 tonnes of import cargo, 19,607 tonnes of export cargo, 2,402 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 92,124 tonnes comprised of 13,399 tonnes of containerised cargo; 34,270 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,236 tonnes of sugar; 22,790 tonnes of coal; 5,839 canola seeds and 44,455 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,607 tonnes comprised of 15,667 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of general cargo and 3,840 tonnes of cement. Five ships namely APL Ruby, MOL Seabreeze, Neelam, MT Karachi and Hyundai Oakland with containers, coal and crude oil sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels viz Thana Bhum, YM Asia, Rukia and Miami Maiden carrying containers, cement and coal are currently at the berth. Five ships namely Mariner, Strong, Gulf Tiger, Trans Ocean and Thana Bhum carrying general cargo, LSFO, sugar and containers expected to sail on Tuesday, while two ships namely YM Asia and Alitis with containers and Canola seeds are expected to sail on Wednesday.
Two vessels viz James River Bridge and Bunga Raya Empat carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while seven vessels viz Lodestar Genesis, Kota Arif, President Adams, MSC Jemima, Jakarta Express, CSL Ride and Ocean President with chemicals, containers and coal are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
The Port Qasim handled 22,284 tonnes of cargo includes 15,719 tonnes of import cargo and 6,565 tonnes of export cargo, 243 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours. The total import cargo of 15,719 tonnes includes 4,000 tonnes of palm oil; 3,265 tonnes of sugar; 1,005 tonnes of canola seeds; 5,079 tonnes of chemicals and 2,370 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo 6,565 tonnes includes 5,545 tonnes of rice and 1,020 tonnes of containerised cargo. A chemical ship namely Royal Peridot sailed out to sea during last 24 hours.
A total number of eight vessels viz MV Lanka Mahapola, MV Timios Stavros, MV MY Voung, MV Yon Phung Ho, MV Panaglotis-D, Royal Peridot and Chem Orchid are currently occupying berths to load/offload rice, sugar, canola seeds, chemicals and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours. Six ships namely Troy, Iron Monger, Nedlloyd Tasman, Fowairey, MSC Aurelie and UASC Shuwaikh carrying rice, furnace oil and containers are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three container vessels viz Nedlloyd Tasman, Fowairey and UASC Shuwaikh are expected to take berths at Container Terminals on Tuesday.
