Nine gunned down in 48 hours: fresh spree of targeted killings triggers panic

A fresh spree of targeted killings triggered panic in different parts of the metropolis on Tuesday as nine persons were killed during last 48 hours. The unabated targeted killings, which started Monday, killed nine persons including senior workers of MQM, ANP and MQM (H). An activist of MQM (H) was gunned down on Tuesday in the limits of Landhi police station, police and party sources said.
They said the body of an activist of MQM (H) was found from 36-D area, Sector 4-B Landhi. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities where. The man was later identified as Sajjad alias Nankhattai. The victim was an activist of MQM (H), Landhi Unit 83, party sources said.
In another incident, a bullet-riddled body was found in the wee hours of Tuesday from Johar Colony in the limits of Pak Colony police station, police said. SHO Pak Colony Rao Farman said the body was found from a yarn factory in Johar Colony. The victim was identified as Raza Mohammad alias Sona, aged 25, son of Shamshad. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy. He said the victim was the resident of the same area and used to sleep in the factory. He received a single bullet in the neck. Rao said the victim had a criminal record and was arrested twice.
