Morocco seeks to buy soft wheat

Morocco's state-run grains agency ONICL has invited locally-registered grain traders to submit by January 17 bids for 175,000 tonnes of soft wheat destined to make subsidised flour, it said on Monday. The bids will be opened on January 17 at 1000 GMT, ONICL said in a statement.
"This tender is open to cereal traders who have registered themselves on behalf of ONICL," it said. Morocco, the world's tenth-biggest wheat importer, favours its local production before turning to foreign markets to make up for domestic crop shortfall. Bad weather cut its latest cereals harvest to 7.46 million tonnes from a record 10.2 million tonnes last year.
