The health department of Punjab has appointed faculty members in the newly established medical colleges of the province. District Headquarter Hospitals (DHQs) have been attached with these medical colleges and would function there as teaching hospitals, said a notification issued by Secretary Health Punjab, Fawad Hassan Fawad.
Prof. Dr. Tanvir Ali Khan Sherwani has been appointed as Principal Sialkot Medical College. Other members of the faculty are namely Prof. Dr. Shahzaman Latif, Prof. Dr Liaqat Ali, Assistant Prof. Dr Ibrahim Khan and Dr. Ijaz Anwar, Dr. Khawar Iqbal, Dr. Abdul Rehman and Dr. Faraz Qadeer are the demonstrators.
Similarly in Sahiwal Medical College, Prof. Dr. Zameer Ahmad has been appointed as principal. Other members of the faculty are namely Prof. Dr. Shahbaz Ashfaq, Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad, Associate Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmad Janjua, Assistant Prof. Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman and the demonstrators are Dr. Razia Rizwan, Dr. Shahbaz Sharif, Dr. Shafqat Rasool, Dr. Rizwan Ahmad, Dr, Saima Naz, Dr. Arrona Khalid, Dr. Shabir Hussain, Dr. Amina Safdar, Dr. Samina Kouser and Dr. Madiha Ch.
In Gujranwala Medical Collage, the faculty consists of Prof. Dr. Atia Mubarak as Principal, Assistant Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amin, Assistant Prof. Dr. Alamgir Rana, Assistant Prof. Dr. Saqib Suhail and the demonstrators included Dr. Nasir Majeed, Dr. Hifza Ryasat, Dr. Muhammad Ikram, Dr. Umer Aslam, Dr. Asifa Ashraf, Dr. Noor-ul-Mubin and Dr. Madiha Rehman.
Meanwhile, health department has attached Allama Iqbal Memorial and Sardar Begum Hospitals with Sialkot Medical College and these hospitals have been given the status of teaching hospitals. Similarly, DHQ Hospital Gujranwala has been attached with Gujranwala Medical College, while DHQ Sahiwal and Haji Abdul Qayyum Memorial Hospitals given the status of teaching hospitals and attached with Sahiwal Medical College. The notification also said that 1st year students of Dera Ghazi Khan Medical College would study at Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Bahwalpur and as soon as the campus at DG Khan is constructed, they would be shifted there.
