Suicide blast kills three including AIG in Peshawar

A suicide blast killed on Friday morning a senior police official and two others while injuring six people in Peshawar's Hayatabad area.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) Headquarters Ashraf Noor, his driver and a security guard were killed in the blast, sub-inspector Ejaz present at the explosion site confirmed. The suicide attacker rammed his motorcycle into the police van after which the bomb went off, killing the officer and two others.

According to media reports, AIG Noor was on his way to work when his vehicle was targeted. The vehicle caught fire after the blast, resulting in a thick cloud of smoke in the area.

The injured were taken to Hayatabad Medical Complex, local media reported. Security officials immediately cordoned off the area and started a search operation in the surrounding area.
