Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Wasim Akhtar on Thursday said the party's reservations have been presented to the President Asif Ali Zardari as the party wants good governance in the country. Talking to reporters outside Parliament House, the MNA stressed the need of taxing the agriculture income and added that the lower middle class should not be taxed further.
He said that the masses were already facing severe problems due to the backbreaking price hike and were unable to meet the expenses of their two times meal. Akhtar said that there should be an end to corruption in the country and also underlined the need of good governance to be visible and justice be provided to the people on merit.
To a question whether the MQM's minister will rejoin the federal cabinet if Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza is removed, Wasim Akhtar said that Mirza was not an issue for the party, as it did not discuss personalities. The MQM, being an important ally of the coalition government left the Federal Cabinet on December 27 in protest after the expiration of deadline given by the party following serious criticism of Sindh Home Minister.
