The regional office of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (DGI&I)-FBR, established 421 cases involving Rs 1.51 billion, and recovered Rs 189.58 million revenue during calendar year 2010. According to official statistics, made exclusively available to Business Recorder here on Friday, the directorate detected 131 customs contravention cases to the tune of Rs 425.25 million in 2010.
Some 34 customs seizures, of Rs 37.54 million, were made at ports, while the ASO staff of the directorate established 251 seizures, involving Rs 573.73 million during the period. Statistics said that five tax frauds of federal excise and sales tax, involving Rs 476.05 million, were unearthed during 2010. The recovery figure showed significant progress as around Rs 189.58 million was recovered during the said period.
