It is a matter of satisfaction that the Consumers Association of Pakistan (CAP) has established a representative forum to protect the rights of consumers and promote a healthy consumer culture in the country. The establishment of this forum is important in view of severe competition among the business enterprises for the sale of their products.
This cut-throat competition characterised by element of robust commercialisation tends to compromise on the interests and welfare of consumers. It is in these circumstances that safeguarding the rights of consumers assumes critical importance. The Consumers Association of Pakistan (CAP) has done well to promote environmentally sustainable consumption concept through the conduct of seminars, workshops, TV and radio programs, walks and press conferences.
Consumers Choice Award is a novel idea, which aims at developing a relationship of trust among consumers, producers and service providers. The Government of Pakistan is determined to protect the rights of consumers and redress their issues. The establishment of consumer's courts all over the country is a sign of our seriousness in this regard.
I would like to congratulate the Chairman and Managing Committee of Consumers Association of Pakistan and commend their efforts for organising Consumers Choice Awards for five consecutive years. The award winners also deserve our felicitation. They have set up excellent precedents for others to follow. The continuation of the award, I am sure, would help promote culture of healthy consumerism in Pakistan.
