Trading community of Khyber Pakhtunkwa Wednesday announced complete support for the decision of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran for holding shutter down strike on Friday (December 31) against the proposed amendments in the Blasphemy Law. The unanimity was expressed by the leadership of the two major rival groups of the trading community here during two separate press conferences here at Peshawar Press Club.
The presidents of both provincial level traders' organisations announced that the community would observe complete shutter down on the call of the central body against the controversial amendments in Blasphemy Law. The two separate press conferences were addressed by Sharafat Ali Mubarak and Haji Haleem Jan, arch foes of each other in trading bodies' politics of the province.
"The trading community of Khyber Pakhtunkwa would observe complete strike (Friday) on call of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran against controversial amendment in Blasphemy law," both announced while flanked by their respective supporters. They expressed complete solidarity with the central trading body and said that Blasphemous move against Holy Prophet (SAW) strongly condemnable. Following the amendments in the law, they maintained that protest rallies and demonstrations had carried out throughout the country. In the second phase of protest, they said the trading community of Khyber Pakhtunkwa would observe complete shutter down, hold protest rallies and demonstration on Friday, (December 31) in the province.
Accompanied by Jamaat-e-Islami, Baharullah Khan, Jamiat-e-Ulema (Islam JUI-F) and Zafarul Khattak, district president Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Haji Haleem Jan said all religious scholars and cleric expressed solidarity with trading community and announced to participate in different protest rallies and demonstrations.
He claimed that liberal and religious factions, included Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F), and (JUI-S), Tehreek-e-Khatame-e-Nabuwat, Markazi Jamiat Wal Hadith, Jamiat-e-Ulema Pakistan, Tehreek-e-Islam, Tehreek-e-Insaf, would participate in the protest demonstrations of the traders. Sharafat Ali Mubarak said that an emergency meeting of Markazi-e-Tanzeem -e-Tajraan, Khyber Pakhtunkwa held under his chairmanship strongly supported the decision of All Pakistan Anjuman Tajraan decision for observing strike on Friday.
He said that all bazaars, shopping malls and markets would remain close in protest of amendments into the blasphemy law. Sharafat Ali further said that the trading community would also organise protest rallies and demonstrations against the proposed Reformed General Sale Tax (RGST), growing power and gas load shedding, and sky-rocketing price hike in the country, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkwa. He said his trading body would strongly resist any decision or step against business community and continue its support for welfare and interest of the community.
