Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has given ultimatum of six weeks to the Punjab government for implementation of special pay scale for doctors. It further said that any further delay would lead to protests.
The general body meeting of PMA with Professor Yasmin Rashid in the chair demanded Rs 30,000 for house officer, Rs 70,000 for PGR, Rs 80,000 for medical officer, Rs 60,000 for senior registrar, Rs 200,000 for APMO, Rs 250,000 for Associate Professor, and Rs 400,000 for Professor.
Meanwhile, the meeting demanded, in special cadre Rs 150,000 for Grade-18, Rs 200,000 for Grade-19, and Rs 250,000 for Grade-20. The PMA general body also urged the Punjab government to increase health budget for the public and implement immediately health care bill already approved by the provincial assembly. The meeting also demanded early recovery of Dr Ali Abdullah who disappeared almost six months ago and condemned cold shoulder behaviour of the government.
