A mysterious fire on Monday night burnt the building, Chitral College of Education and turned furniture, record, books and other valuables into ashes. According to details, sudden fire was erupted in Chitral College of Education, Balatch during mid night of Monday and Tuesday.
The personnel of Chitral Scouts, Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Chitral, Border Police and the vehicles of fire brigade rushed to the college and extinguished the fire after three-hour long co-ordinated efforts. The fire burnt all sixteen rooms and precious equipment included furniture, library books, record, science laboratory and other valuables.
According to initial estimates, the fire caused a loss of Rs 10 million. However, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained. The police station concerned has registered a case and further investigations were in progress. Meanwhile, the principal of the college, Sardar Ahmad Khan has requested provincial governments, philanthropists and local community for extending co-operation in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the college.
He said the students of the college may contact with the college administration in connection with their record and academic certificates. Chitral College of Education is famous and known educational institute of the district and its students have been consecutively obtaining top three positions in B.Ed and M.Ed examinations held under the auspices of Malakand University since its establishment.
