New terminal at Sialkot Airport inaugurated

Published Updated

The central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday inaugurated the newly constructed terminal, costing rupees six crore (rupees 60 million), at Sialkot International Airport. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, he said that the business community of Sialkot has set a unique precedence by constructing Sialkot International airport, which is a unique project of its type in the country built by the private sector.
He pointed out that Islamabad Airport was constructed at a cost of Rs 45 billion whereas Sialkot airport at a cost of Rs 3.50 billion. He added that 'open sky policy' was not under consideration because it would be detrimental for the national airline.
The PML-N leader observed that the industrial sector of Punjab is confronting multiple problems due to non-availability of gas and electricity and is nearing to closure. He alleged that government is intentionally imposing crisis of electricity on Punjab whereas 700megawatts electricity is being provided to Karachi at Rs 3 per unit.
He called upon the government to take immediate steps for resolving the problems being confronted by the industrial sector of the country. The industrial sector is the backbone of the national economy and it is very unfortunate that government is reluctant to resolve the problems being faced by the business community of the country, he maintained. Asif said government is 'inventing new modes of corruption' but PML-N would close all doors and corridors of corruption and mal-practices in the country with the active support of the masses.
