Misappropriation of Rs 12.91 million: NAB Sindh arrests two ex-bankers

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sindh, has arrested two ex-officials of Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) for running parallel bank and misappropriation of Rs 12.910 million of deposit holders.
According to an announcement of the NAB office here on Monday, the accused ex-Assistant Manager Abdul Majeed Memon s/o Ameer Bux Memon and ex-Cashier Nawabuddin Bhambhro s/o Gulan Bhambhro of HBL's Mehrabpur branch were arrested from Sachal Goth, Karachi, and Taluka Ranipur of Khairpur district, respectively.
The accused though received money from the depositors but did not credit into the accounts of customers, it added. The NAB had started investigation of the scam on the complaint of account holders on December 8, earlier this month, had have now arrested the accused, the statement said. Meanwhile, the Chairman NAB, Justice (R) Syed Deedar Hussain Shah also visited the NAB Sindh office on Monday.
He was briefed about the operational and administrative aspects of the provincial office. The Chairman discussed important cases with the Directors of Investigation Wings and gave instructions to proceed against the accused persons expeditiously and bring the cases to a logical conclusion, it added.
