The third death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto was observed in a befitting manner across Punjab on Monday. Many special congregations were organised to mark the occasion, in which speakers paid rich tributes to BB for sacrificing her life for the cause of democracy, national unity, solidarity, and cohesion among the masses. Quran Khawani was also held at all major cities and towns across Punjab.
Senior leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab including members of the provincial assembly and party office bearers from respective districts and the followers of Bhuttos including the citizens representing all classes of the society attended the ceremonies.
They also offered special prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country under the leadership of Zardari. A special ceremony was also held at the PPP Secretariat under the auspices of PPP Lahore. The PPP leaders described the assassination of Benazir as an irreparable loss for entire Pakistani nation. Speakers said that they vowed to continue the mission of Bhutto family in the greater national interests of Pakistan by attaining and protecting the due rights of the masses especially neglected and downtrodden classes of the society. The PPP workers also lit candles in the memory of BB at the Liberty Square. Some prominent figures including Asma Jehangir, Hina Jilani and Saleema Hashmi also attended the ceremony.
