First winter rain predicted this week

Published Updated

Met Office said here on Sunday that a westerly wave of weak to moderate intensity is likely to penetrate in Pakistan through southern Balochistan from Monday (today) evening that will generate south-westerly winds with a cloud-cover during next four days for Pakistan.
The expected wind-change will bring some relief from cold weather conditions, prevailing in the country for past 2 weeks. Foggy weather conditions prevailing in the plain areas of Punjab and parts of upper Sindh are likely to subside for the time being during the current week. The minimum temperatures are expected to rise from 3 - 5°C all over the country during next 4 days. The Met office said that the westerly wave would cause some rain at a few places of coastal areas of the country on Tuesday, and scattered rain is also over some north-eastern parts of the country (Lahore, Gujranwala, Hazara, Bahawalpur divisions and Kashmir) on Wednesday/Thursday. The light rain during mid-week would bring some relief in cold/foggy weather.
However the dry weather conditions will continue in most parts of the country, especially in the wheat-growing rain-fed areas of Balochistan, KP and Punjab, during the current week.
For Monday (today), Met office forecast mainly cold and dry weather is over most parts of the country. However, mist/fog may likely to prevail over the plain areas of the Punjab at isolated places.
The lowest minimum temperature in Pakistan -13.1C was recorded at Skardu.
