BP provides items worth Rs 3.4 million for library, computer centre, hospital

The British Petroleum Pakistan has provided equipments worth Rs 3.4 million for a public library and computer centre at Odero Lal, District Matiari.
These donated equipments include 12 computers, 800 books, one generator, furniture and other items which were handed over by the representatives of BP Pakistan on the request of Matiari District Government in a simple but impressive ceremony held on Sunday at the place of facility.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Amer Azim Daudpoto, head of communication and external affairs of BP Pakistan, said that in addition to these donated items, the BP Pakistan has also funded the renovation of the building which houses the library and computer centre. He said that the BP Pakistan has also undertaken other projects in Matiari District under its corporate social responsibility, which include provision of a dialysis centre and gynecological operation theatre at Matiari hospital at a cost of Rs 12 million, and added that this project was near completion.
Besides that, life saving drugs of over Rs 2.2 million have already been provided to Matiari hospital, and training to local youth was being imparted at Nasarpur Ceramic Centre at a cost of Rs 2.5 million. Daudpoto said that BP Pakistan is a responsible corporate citizen and is committed to bring about positive change in the lives of the people of its concession areas as well as enhancing access to quality education and health services to the inhabitants.
The ceremony was also attended by Regional Police Officer Hyderabad Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, DCO Matiari Saqib Ahmed Soomro and other notables of the area. The participants of the ceremony said that the donation of BP Pakistan would prove a valuable source for having better facilities to the people in the field of health and education. They were also of the view that provision of library and computer centre would facilitate the students for having access to Internet and also enhance their reading habits.
