Commodities on the wholesale markets depicted mixed trend, in line with world trend, during the week ended on December 25, 2010. On the opening day, commodity markets witnessed a couple of changes owing to low demand. On the gram side 50 x 50 turned higher by Rs 50 to Rs 5750 and Rs 6000, gur low type did not budge and stayed put at Rs 6800.
The better type lost Rs 100 to Rs7400. On the cereal side masoor Canada was quoted at Rs6800. On the seed side, cottonseeds cakes with bag low type stayed unchanged to Rs 1230, while the other type rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1250.
On Jodia Bazaar petroleum jelly (chemicals) per kg DDBSA gained Rs 5 to Rs 140, while PVA Japan rose by Rs 2 to Rs 242. Rangolite C (per lb) China ended lower by Rs2 to Rs88. Hydro-Sulphite China 88pc rose by Re1 to Rs79. Acetic acid from Taiwan shed Re1 to Rs79 and from Korea rose by Rs3 to Rs77. Hydrogen peroxide descon 50 percent ended by Rs2 to Rs62, sitara ended higher by Re1 to Rs61, Taiwan 35pc rose by Rs 13 to Rs58, Korean 5pc quoted at Rs66 and from Thailand rose by Rs9 to Rs63.
On Tuesday upward trend in commodities was marked with reservations, on the rice side Irri 9 Sindh rose by Rs200 to Rs4100, while the better type was seen up at Rs4200. Basmati 386 old gained Rs400 to Rs5200 and R5400, new was also seen at the same level, super Basmati Sindh also rose by Rs200 to Rs6000 and Rs62,00. Cottonseed cakes in Sindh rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1240 and Rs 1260. Bangladesh tea showed declining trend.
On Wednesday nominal changes were marked on commodity wholesale markets, where wheat old with bardana was registered at Rs2640 and Rs2645, while new type was quoted at Rs2655 and Rs2660, gur low type stayed put at Rs6800, while the other type was lower by Rs200 to Rs7200, bajra low type rose by Rs 50 to Rs2550, while the other variety was unchanged at Rs3000, cottonseed oilcakes with bag low type was quoted higher at Rs 1250.
On Jodia Bazaar Kirana items (per 40 kg) white pepper ended higher by Rs 1200 to Rs28,000, Ajwain closed lower by Rs700, to Rs6100, peanut lost Rs400 to Rs 100 sago gave in Rs50 to Rs3200, star aniseed ended lower by Rs200 to Rs 15,800 and darchini scaled down by Rs200 to Rs7000.
On Thursday makai low type gained Rs 25 to Rs 2550, while better type rose by Rs 67 to Rs 2575. Wheat old with bardana was registered at Rs 2650, while new quality wheat was registered at Rs2665. Gur low type lost Rs 100 to Rs6700, cottonseed oilcakes with bag shed Rs20 to Rs 1230, while better type was unchanged at Rs 1260.
On Jodia Bazaar plastic mouldings closed mixed. The changes were. PLASTIC MOULDING COMPOUNDS ((Per lb): HDPE (FILM): Saudia 952 ended higher by 50 paisa to Rs 68, Mobil went up by Rs 3 to Rs 68 and TR 144 was quoted at Rs 68. HDPE (INJECTION): Sabic 200056 moved upward by Rs 3 to Rs 71, Mobil 016 finished higher by Rs 5 to Rs 71 and Iran went up by Rs 4 to Rs 70. HDPE (BLOW): Iran moved upward by Rs 3 to Rs 68. LDPE: MG 20 closed higher by Rs 6 to Rs 93 and MG 70 ended up by Rs 7 to Rs 95.
LLDPE: Sabic 500026 moved upward by Rs 4 to Rs 92. POLYPROPYLENE (FILM): Thai closed higher by Rs 4 to Rs 75, Kuwait ended up by Rs 4 to Rs 75 and India finished down by 50 paisa to Rs 75. COPOLY: Block ended lower by Rs 2 to Rs 84 and Randon was quoted at Rs 85. ABS (Per bag): Polylac 707 went down by Rs 50 to Rs 6,600 and Iran ended up by Rs 50 to Rs 6,550.
On Friday not a single change was seen on the wholesale grain and seed market, as almost all participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers, according to grain and seed merchants group's release.
On Jodia Bazaar Ceylon raw rubber ended up. The changes were: CEYLON RAW RUBBER (Per lb): Merryrub (Equivalent to RSS3) moved upward by Rs 25 to Rs 210, RSSV closed higher by Rs 25 to Rs 210, Merryrub (Equivalent to Crape) went up by Rs 25 to Rs 220 and Pale Crape TPC3 finished higher by Rs 10 to Rs 240. LATEX Merrytex (28-kg) moved upward by Rs 60 to Rs 1,230, Semna Tex closed higher by Rs 60 to Rs 1,230 and Thai (GT) went up by Rs 60 to Rs 1,230.
