European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said on December 21 it had received a firm order from Chilean carrier LAN for 50 medium-haul A320 airliners, which at catalogue prices would be worth more than 4.0 billion dollars (3.1 billion euros).
Airbus said the LAN commitment was the manufacturer's largest single aircraft order ever recorded in Latin America. It added that the planes would be equipped with "wing-tip devices that will enhance the eco-efficiency and payload-range performance of the A320 Family."
