KARACHI: The federal government consequent to its success in restoration of peace in Karachi is presently engaged in spending a sum of Rs.75 billion for its infrastructural development, said the Governor of Sindh, Muhammad Zubair here Thursday.

Addressing a certificate distribution ceremony held at National Institute of Management (NIM) for participants of the 24th mid career management course (MCMC), he said the government is extensively focused towards public welfare projects.

"Efficient law and order situation coupled with fool proof civic facilities are among the top priorities," he said mentioning that Lyari Expressway, Bulk Water Supply project (K-IV) and Rapid Transit scheme (Green Line) are fast on their way to completion.

These were said to be besides several other projects that have either been already initiated or in process of being opened.

Governor emphasized that proficient administrative management is the key to success for any government and that capable officials are required at every level so that its policies may be implemented in letter and spirit.

For this, he said government is also fully cognizant about regular training of the administrative officials at regular interval so as to keep updating their professional capacity.

Muhammad Zubair said completion of the ongoing development schemes in Karachi will not only contribute towards raising the life standards of the citizens but also contribute in supplementing the CPEC, a game changer for the entire country as well as for the region.

He said the improved law, order situation in the metropolis has led to revival of massive investment opportunities in the commercial hub of the country and development projects underway here will further streamline the efforts being made for national development.

Director General of National Institute of Management (NIM), Roshan Ali Shaikh presented a detailed report about the series of courses offered at the facility.

Officials pertaining to different cadres of provincial services from Sindh and Balochistan were said to be also trained at NIM on regular basis.

Later the Governor distributed certificates among the course participants, comprising BPS 18 and 19 officers representing both provincial and federal departments.
