Computerisation of revenue department: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly passes unanimous resolution
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Thursday passed unanimous resolutions for the computerisation of record of revenue department and eradication of polio from the province. The resolutions were tabled by Abdul Akbar Khan of PPP and Israrullah Khan Gandpore of PPP-Sherpao.
In his resolution, Abdul Akbar said computerisation of the department will not only help preserve the record, but will also help settle more than 80 percent pending litigation cases in the courts. Mian Iftikhar Hussein said that computerisation is a good proposal as it will shift the record of the revenue department from manual procedure to computers.
He also agreed with the contentions of the mover that it will also help minimise the number of the property-related disputes and litigation cases in the province. However, he called for preparation of a comprehensive plan for the computerisation to help minimise enmities in the society.
The Provincial Minister for Science and Information Technology, Mohammad Ayub also supported the resolution and said that the computerisation of the revenue record would be revolutionary step in the history of the province. The process, he said was started from Peshawar, but due to the lack of co-operation from the minister of the department concerned it was winded up.
Through another resolution, Israrullah Khan Gandapore, a legislator from DI Khan demanded of the provincial government for initiating efforts for the eradication of polio to protect children from the deadly disease. The Speaker, Kiramatullah Khan, who was presiding the proceedings of the house, expressed concern over the growing cases of polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. He said that failure in the prevention of the disease could result in generating the disabled and that could also result in clamping of ban on the travelling of our people in the world.
He said that though the government is running a campaign, but the feedback from the people is so good. He said that Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centres (RHCs) are also lacking facilities and polio vaccines lose utility due to hours long power shut down. Similarly, he said that disease also transform from Afghanistan due to the movement of the refugees.
The speaker recommended that refrigerators at BHUs and RHCs should run on solar energy system. Meanwhile, the provincial assembly passed three resolutions with majority votes and rejected one resolution relating to the establishment of new division comprising of districts Dir Lower, Dir Upper, Chitral and Bajaur Agency.
The first resolution passed with majority vote was presented by Shah Hussein Alai of JUI-F was for the establishment of Public Private Investment Board (PPIB) for promotion of hydropower generation in the province.
The resolution of Manwar Sultana for the establishment of separate prisons for women in the province was also adopted with majority and the same treatment was accorded to her second resolution. In her second resolution the woman legislator called for specification of one-period at school level to establishment of self-confidence amongst the women.
The fourth resolution tabled by Mohammad Zamin Khan of PPP for establishment of a new division comprising of districts, Dir Lower, Dir Upper, Chitral and Bajaur Agency was rejected after the opposition from Mian Iftikhar Hussein on technical grounds. Mian Iftikhar Hussein said that the resolution could not be implemented it containing the inclusion of Bajaur Agency, a unit of the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA). The speaker put the resolution to vote and the house rejected it with majority vote.
