Tax Years 2008,09,10: FBR issues notices to 114 tax defaulters of Rs 22 billion

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued recovery notices to 114 tax defaulters involving an amount of nearly Rs 22 billion during Tax Years of 2008, 2007 and 2006. According to the data of major tax defaulters prepared by the FBR for presentation to the National Assembly on Thursday, so far the FBR has recovered around Rs 11 billion from the tax defaulters during the period under review.
The total number of tax defaulters during this period stood at 114 to whom notices have been served for recovery. There are 52 cases of tax defaulters involving Rs 17,779 million where stay has been granted by appellate forums. There are 21 cases where total amount has been recovered from the tax defaulters. An amount of Rs 7,445 million has been totally recovered from 21 tax defaulters.
