Clarification

Published Updated

Apropos to the news item published in your esteemed newspaper on Wednesday under caption 'Powerful group wants to get hold of LPG extraction', the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has clarified that the reporting by section of the press about proceedings of the Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources with regard to OGDCL do not adequately represent the stand of OGDCL with respect to litigation pending before various courts of law.
The matter has been reported out of context. The submission made by the Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and the MD/CEO, OGDCL, relates to the cases before various courts in respect of development of Kunar-Pasakhi Deep, Tando Allah Yar and Sinjhoro Fields. OGDCL stated before the Committee that it had won cases against the litigant-party both in the High Court and later in the Supreme Court. The litigant-party then filed a Review Petition, which is pending. The matters referred to in the report are, therefore, sub judice.
It may be further clarified that the stand of OGDCL is clearly reflected in the record before various Courts of Law that OGDCL in all its actions, whether pertaining to tender process or otherwise, strives to act strictly in accordance with the law and rules.
OGDCL would like to place on record that they have been patiently heard and their viewpoint considered both at the level of the High Court as well as the Supreme Court. OGDCL will continue to diligently pursue its cases before various Courts of Pakistan and develop various oil and gas fields as urgently as possible.
