Faulty investigation into Church attack: Supreme Court admonishes officials of prosecution department

A full bench of the Supreme Court here on Wednesday admonished officials of prosecution department over faulty investigation in grenade attack on Texila Church directed the concerned SP Investigation to appear in person before the court on Thursday (today).
During the proceedings Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, remarked that why the investigators failed to proceed further in the case when one of the attackers was killed at the spot and had his national identity card in his pocket. He said the investigators did not investigate the terrorism incidents properly and afterwards blame the courts of acquitting the accused.
He said no training was being given to investigate the terrorism incidents. Ramday said: "Every bearded man is suspected to be a terrorism, and that's why I avoid having beard." The bench of the SC was hearing appeals of convict Saifur Rehman, Muhammad Ayaz, and Abu Bakar who were given death sentence by an anti terrorism court Rawalpindi on March 31, 2004.
Counsel for the convicts submitted that they had no role in the attack but they were implicated. He accused that the investigators had asked the complainants to identify only those who were in shackles and they did accordingly. He said the investigators also did not made any progress in investigation after finding dead body Kamran Meer, one of the attackers, from the scene. According to the prosecution, the convicts attacked the church on August 09, 2002 which left four Christian women and 25 other men and women injured.
