Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will present his new government to parliament speaker later on Monday, but the voting on the appointments was postponed for one day, a lawmaker in al-Maliki's bloc said. "The parliament session was postponed until Tuesday to vote on the appointments al-Maliki will present to the speaker, Osama al-Nujaifi, today," Ali Boshair, a lawmaker with the Shiite National Alliance said.
Al-Nujaifi had said earlier he will only get the list of candidates for ministerial posts, but the parliament will not vote on it. The session was adjourned shortly after. On Saturday, al-Maliki filed an official request to al-Nujaifi to present his cabinet. Yet disagreement persisting between the different parties led lawmakers to suggest that the announcement of the new cabinet will be postponed until Wednesday.
