A core group consultative meeting on climate change held on Monday to review the draft of climate change policy. Secretary Environment M. Javed Malik, Additional Secretary Kamran Ali Qureshi, D.G (Environment) Javed Ali Khan, Ex. State Minister for Environment Malik Ameen Aslam, Chief Environment Planning Commission, Dr Aurangzeb, Adviser Climate Change Policy, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, climate change experts and representatives of concerned stakeholders and officials of the Ministry of Environment attended the meeting.
Presiding over the meeting, Federal Minister for Environment, Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said that expert opinion from the concerned Ministries and related stakeholders should be congregated immediately so that the draft of climate change policy should be made more effective and according to the national requirements. He said that keeping in view the prevailing situation with reference to global warming, glaciers melting and other adverse affects of climate change, it is imperative to formulate the new policy, which should address all issues relating to environmental degradation.-PR
