Dispute between the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and Furnace mills owners on power theft has heightened as both sides have given a strike call during the week to lodge their respective protest. LESCO labour wing and officers have given a strike call on December 23, followed by the strike call from Furnace mills owners next week.
Zonal Chairman Wapda Labour Union Sajid Kazmi criticised for registration of fake case against the XEN once he unearthed power theft by the furnace mills owners. He warned of city-wide strike on December 23 in case police failed to withdraw case against him.
Meanwhile, Chairman Furnace Mills Owners Association Haji Muhammad Ashraf said the circle three LESCO officials are accusing Furnace mills owners of power theft, which is contrary to ground reality. Instead, he said, the power authorities have sent hefty bills to mill owners. He said application is filed to the FIA against the concerned LESCO officials and the steel mill owners would also join them soon in case government failed to address their issues.
