Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday announced pride of performance for commandos for ensuring foolproof security during Muharram processions and visit of Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to Pakistan.
Talking to media here at the Ministry of Interior he said there were threats of terrorism during the visit of Chinese's premier to Islamabad and Muharram processions, however the law enforcement agencies foiled the nefarious designs of terrorists.
He said the overall security plan designed for Muharram processions and Chinese Prime Minister were so ideal and the same would be followed in future. While complimenting the efforts of police, FC and Rangers, he said the law enforcement agencies ensured foolproof security during Muharram and no untoward incident was reported from any part of the country.
He especially appreciated the efforts of Islamabad police and announced one-month salary as bonus for the force. Malik also lauded the efforts of Punjab and Sindh police and said that they deserve appreciation for providing security to the participants of Muharram processions.
The Minister said that MQM co-ordination committee also co-operated with provincial police for observing peace during Muharram processions.
