The parliamentary committee on constitutional reforms has finalised the draft of the 19th Amendment Bill, 2010. The Committee met with Mian Raza Rabbani in the chair at Parliament House on Sunday. Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Ishaq Dar, Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr Zaheer-ud-Din Babar, Waseem Sajjad, S.M Zafar, Professor Khurshid Ahmed and others participated in the meeting.
After committee meeting, Mian Raza Rabbani told media that all 24 members of the Committee unanimously approved the Bill. He said that the committee would present its report in both Houses in the forthcoming sessions of the Parliament.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has given judgement to review Article 175-A of the Constitution about the appointment of judges of superior Courts in the 18th Amendment, due to which the draft of the 19th Amendment had been prepared.
The process of appointment of judges for the superior courts has been drafted in the 19th Amendment.
