The Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Nisar Ali Khan, has said that the government and the opposition may have differences, but they are united on the issue of Sino-Pak friendship. He expressed these views while extending warm welcome to visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in the Parliament on Sunday.
"China is a true and reliable friend of Pakistan. China has always supported Pakistan as a noble friend in difficult times and has fulfilled its commitments," he said.
Nisar said, "We may have a lot of problems, but there is one issue on which there is no problem, no controversy, no difference of opinion; and that is 'friendship with China'."
"I invite the Chinese (people) to go to every corner of Pakistan and even meet the common and uneducated man of a village, who would tell them that 'China is a great friend of Pakistan," he said.
He said that Sino-Pak friendship is above traditional interests of the government and opposition. "We will convert Sino-Pak friendship as a big asset to the coming generations".
"Pakistan feels proud about the progress China has made and that Pakistan would act upon the advice given by the Chinese Premier," he said. The Opposition Leader as well as other members of National Assembly welcomed the Chinese Premier. "This House (Parliament)," he said, "has set new dimension to Pak-China relationship and a new benchmark for the future of Sino-Pak relations".
