Senate body agrees upon amendments in NDMA Bill

ISLAMABAD: The Sub-Committee of Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change in its meeting on Wednesday agreed upon the amendments proposed in the National Disaster Management Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2017 moved by Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh with certain changes.
The meeting was chaired by Convener Senator Ahmed Hassan and was attended among others by Senators Sitara Ayaz, Samina Saeed, Secretary Climate Change Syed Altaf, Member National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Muhammad Idrees Mahsud, said a press release issued here.
The amendments talk about having follow-up on implementation of NDMA meetings decisions every six months, including all kinds of economic inputs and disaster effectees for compensations and rehabilitation.
The Committee meeting also discussed legal implications of consolidation of West Pakistan National Calamities (Prevention and Relief) Act, 1958, Earthquake reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), Act 2011 and National Disaster Management Act, 2010.
