ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain separately called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here at the Prime Minister House on Friday.
The Finance Minister informed the Prime Minister about tax collection of worth Rs. 640 billion in the first five months of the current financial year.
It reflects 28% increase in the tax collection as compared to the corresponding period of the last financial year, he apprised.
Dr Hafeez Sheikh briefed the Prime Minister about the new mechanism formulated by the Cabinet Committee regarding the restructuring of the Public Sector Enterprises to make them viable commercial entities by introducing corporate culture in them.
The Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources briefed the Prime Minister about the steps being taken by the Ministry regarding the supply of oil and gas to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and the domestic and industrial sectors during the rest of winter season.
